MEET CHRIS AUSTIN

Hello! My name is Chris Austin, owner of Day6 Photography. Thanks for checking out my site!I grew up in a small town in west central Indiana and moved to Terre Haute in 1995 to pursue a degree in elementary education at Indiana State University. I've lived in Terre Haute ever since where I've taught 6th grade science and language arts for the past 10 years. My passion for photography started in 2006 when I was getting ready to head to Texas for vacation. I decided to buy my very first digital camera for the trip. It didn't take me long to realize I was totally digging this whole photography thing. Before I knew it, I found myself lost in nature for 3 or 4 hours, taking pictures of God's beautiful creation and loving every minute of it! I began posting my pictures on Myspace and slowly, more and more of my friends starting asking me if I would consider selling my prints. I hadn't even thought about that! I just enjoyed taking them! Around that time, I was visiting my sister in Michigan and came across a small gallery where locals could sell their prints. As I looked through all the photographs, I knew that my pictures were good enough to be up on those walls. That was a huge turning point for me in taking my love of photography from just a hobby to a side business. It took a while to come up with the right name for my photography business. I thought about "1000 Words Photography", "Chris Austin Photography", and a few others, but none of these really captured how I felt when I was out taking pictures. I was looking through my Bible one day and came across Genesis 1:31 where God looked over everything He had created on the sixth day and said it was very good. Right then and there, I knew I had found the perfect name for my photography. Thanks again for checking out Day6 Photography! Have a blessed day!

PHOTOGRAPHY WORKSHOPS

On occasion, I hold workshops for those who would like to learn more about photography. My workshops are for beginners and are meant to go over the basics of photography. During the workshops, I spend half the time teaching a particular concept. The other half is a chance for you to practice what you've learned. I still have a great deal to learn about photography as well, so my workshops are not for those who already know a lot about photography. I simply love sharing tips I've learned! If you have a nice camera but you just don't know how to use it or you want to learn more about aperature, shutter speed, the rule of thirds, etc. then be sure to check back here in the spring and fall for workshop dates and locations.
